One of the most touching children’s stories that I have come across – a story of a lonely Mountain that befriends a little bird called Joy who pays him a visit one day. The Mountain pleads the bird to stay back, however due to lack of food and water Joy decides to leave but with a promise to visit him every Spring.
Joy visits the Mountain the subsequent spring, and also ensures that this tradition is continued by her descendants. But with the passing of every Spring the immobile Mountain becomes more and more grief stricken on the separation from his ‘only’ friend.
As in due course of the story the tears of sorrow becomes tears of happiness for the Mountain, the readers also learn a lot about hope, patience, friendship, and keeping promises.
Illustrations by Stephen Aitken adds so much magic to this story, that one can feel the emotions through his beautiful illustrations.
